Thanks on the Dark Side

Good Morning,

Another cold night here in Ohio and expecting snow today or tomorrow.  It is kinda aggravating when you see all the plants trying to come up and enjoy some nice weather and show off what they have to offer.

Todays card is another card I made with dark paper.  Like I said yesterday and before that, I let the paper inspire me, so I guess I was feeling a little dark when I made this card.  I used an old Mojo Monday sketch to make this card, so it wasn't all my doing.  But I did like it.  The colors of the paper are nice together.
I love making the vintage looking cards, they have a great feel, but sometimes it is nice to get away from that and make something with a different feel.

Bliss on the Dark Side

Good Afternoon to my crafting friends,

I have been busy this morning getting things back in order after a week of "Spring Break".  My girls are back to school and today is the first day of classes for the spring quarter.  It is really amazing how fast this time goes.  Seems like just yesterday we were planning high school graduation and now they are moving along in college, and all the time I am getting older too, and find it harder to accomplish all I want to in a day, but we keep going and doing what we have to.  Piles of laundry will get done today and housework that I put off so we could enjoy time.

 My older daughter loves to work with our cows and was home to bottle feed a calf we have.  He wasn't doing so well after he was born, not eating and not getting around very well and then we noticed that he was blind.  So now we have this poor little thing walking in circles always looking for his mommy, but he is doing well now, he seems to be able to keep up with his mommy when they are in the pasture by themselves.  So for now until he is weaned we will have to keep checking and making sure he is able to find his mommy to eat.  PIC Below:

This is when we brought him in to give him a bottle in case he hadn't ate.  He loved the bottle so we assume he hadn't ate from his mommy.  He is such a cutie.  We have several people who think it is terrible we bring the calves in the house, but they only come as far as the mudroom.  We have had several that we have helped in the mudroom.  Usually winter is a terrible time for calves, with snow and ice, sometimes they freeze out there, and sometimes they do very well.  We have it now that they all come in the spring, so much better.  It is hard to warm up a calf but we have had to do it and no place like in the house.  But we have a heated barn now and we can take them there now when its cold and they are sick.

On to my card:

Todays card I made on Friday.  I must have had a moment and was thinking on the dark side.  The next two cards I have made for the blog are on the dark side, meaning they are dark colored paper.  I have said before that most of the time I am inspired by paper and I was with these cards too.

Todays card is "Bliss"  There is a lot of times you just want a card to say "hey".  So I thought this card was good for that.  You will see I have added some new techniques to my cards the last few times....trying to get away from the things I love to put on cards.........now found something new.......which means more time or a card.....

Happy Mothers Day/Banner

Good Morning, I am sorry I didn't get a post made for Saturday but I went to the Scrapbooking Expo in Columbus yesterday and I let time get away from me and didn't have time to post. There was a lot of things there to see and buy, but I got away without much damage to the pocket book. Today's card is very much like the the last post, colors are almost the same.  I love the paper from October Afternoon. The quilt pattern paper is perfect for a Mother's Day Card. Springtime Wishes/Easter

Good Morning,

Here in Ohio you never know what kind of weather you are going to wake up too.  Wednesday we had a high temperature of 72, this morning we wake up to 32 degrees with the highs  to be in the 40's.  So I would have to say this will be a great day to spend in the craftroom making cards. I plan to do that when I get my house work caught up which shouldn't take to long.

On Saturday I will be going to the Scrapbooking Expo in Columbus hoping to see whats new or just see what I can find to make cards with.  Actually it is just fun to see whats going on.  So many things to use for scrapbooking and cardmaking.  I will have to let you all know how that goes.

Today's card I made on Wednesday, along the the last card I posted. 

Tomorrows card is actually using alot of the same papers but a different layout.  I really liked the paper.  It was cheerful and it also looked old at the same time.  From time to time I like "not" inking the edges of the cardstock and just letting the paper speak for itself.  So I hope you like todays card, and tomorrows card too.

Happy Easter/Metal Flower

Hello and Good Afternoon,

I know that I am a little late getting a card posted today, but I have been busy getting my laundry done.  I have my daughters home from college while they are on spring break and it really does throw the normal laundry day off a little and makes a whole day miserable with work. But I guess it is only a week.  :)

I have been having fun with the pop cans.  I find you can cut them with the spellbinders/nestibilites.  I do have an idea brewing that uses the nestibilites from the pop cans. I have a few cut now and should be able to make a few things.
I stamped the sentiment in Green, then pink and then settled for the brown.  I still think I like the green better, but I like the brown too.
These metal flowers are so much fun to make, and they can be messy when you are putting on the ink....but nothing is fun unless you are a little messy.

Hope you enjoy today's card.  I will probably be a little late tomorrow too so just be patient.

Birthday Wishes/Metal Flower

Good Sunday Morning to you all!

I was blog hopping the other day and came upon someone using metal to embellish a
bottle and they sold the metal as well, so I decided I would look to see how much the metal was and to my surprise it was cheap, but I realized I wanted it now....I am a bit impatient...and I thought I should try using a pop can.  I made my way to my husbands shop, only because I knew there was a ton of pop cans in there, ( just a trash can full).  I also new that I would find tin snips up there too.  I cut a can and took it back to my craftroom and first I colored it with Stazon ink, took the heat gun and dried it (I think that is necessary) and then cut the flowers out with the sizzix.  I embossed the flowers after cutting so there wasn't so much metal to emboss.  It worked and I was tickled.

The first picture is of the can after I cut it with tin snips.  It cuts really well with sharp scissors as well.  I did us scissors to trim it after I got the top and bottom cut off.  To put it in the sizzix machine I did take the metal and straigten it out, as you see here it does roll up.

This is the back side of the flower  I made.  Just to show you it really was the pop can.  It cuts very easy in the sizzix, but don't try your punches.  I did and locked them up, it wasn't easy to get them from being stuck.
The embossing is much better if you emboss after you cut the flower out.  I think it does better when you don't have a whole piece to emboss.




 This is the flower.  I used a antique brad from Stamp Up for the center.  Also the center piece from the Fun Flowers Die I did put in the center before the brad.

Good Satruday Morning,

I hope those of you who have subscribed to my blog, didn't get overloaded with updates yesterday, if so I

am sorry.  I was trying to clean up the blog and make it more "spring like" since Spring is arriving tomorrow.

I felt I needed something more cheerful and uplifting coming out of the winter season.  It really is a job

trying to redo a blog, but it was fun all the same.

 Todays card was another Mojo Monday sketch, this time I didn't use the sketch because I didn't have
any inpiration, but because I just had to see what I could come up with on my own here on this sketch.
I believe I love doing these.  I might have to go back to their archives and see what others I can find to do.
You should go and check out their website and try them for yourself.  I posted their blog on yesterdays card.
I think this was this past Mondays sketch, but don't take my word on that.


This is the inside of the card, I think it could actually be a nice Outside design for a card.  I liked it a lot and
I might have to try this more often. I am not adding sentiments to the inside of my cards anymore until I actually need the card.  I find sometimes the sentiments usually don't fit the occasion and I end up remodeling the inside all over.  I do wish there were more stamps out there that had more lengthy sentiments for the inside of cards.

Good Morning to my blogging friends,

Inspiration comes to us cardmakers in many ways, however sometimes it just never comes, but yesterday when I was in the craftroom I thought I would never find a card that I could share.  I do make cards from time to time that I call "rejects"(maybe someday I will make a post of all my rejects) and they set here for days, maybe months and I may or may not go back to them and give them a boost, but yesterday I decided that I would try one of the sketches that  I see all the time for the challenges some of you talented people do.  I tried one and I liked the idea of putting it all together and putting my touch on it although someone else came up with the layout, it was just the inspiration I needed for todays card.

When doing these sketches it is all up to you what paper, or embellishments you use or even what way you want to go with the card, not necessarily doing it just like the sketch, but using bits and pieces of ideas the sketch layout has.  I will try a few more of these and see how or what I come up with...I will admit..it was fun. If you find yourself in a rut and can't find inspiration then look up one of these sketches and see what you can do to make it your creation (with help)!

I would love to hear from you all about your ways of finding inspiration for your cards.

I seem to like making "Thinking of You" cards because you can use them for so many things.

Yesterday when I made this card, I was having a hard time finding my inspiration but  I managed to get this card together.

I am not sure how many cards I will get posted next week.

My girls will be home on Spring Break, and although they think it is a vacation, Mom thinks otherwise.

So I am hoping some projects around the house can be completed.  Making it to the craftroom might be tricky, but it also could be my therapy for some quiet time. LOL

Good Morning,

I was so amazed yesterday how fast the day went, we only added an hour but I have found that every hour is precious.  Since the time did get away with me yesterday I didn't get the recipe for yesterdays card up but I did put it up this morning, so I hope you all don't mind I was a little late.

Todays card was something I had no idea I was doing.  I just decided to use some paper I had and then went from there.  Most of the time the paper is my inspiration and it was here.  I was trying to get away from flowers, ribbon and pearls and I did succeed. :)  I will have to admit that Rich Razzleberry is my favorite cardstock, along with Crumb Cake and the inks too.

Birthday Card with a double inside greeting

Good Sunday Morning,

The weather yesterday here in Ohio was very nice, windy, but nice.  I did find time to do a little something in the scrapbook room, but found that I spent the day outside more then I thought I would.
I made this card a few days ago, part of the stash I have set aside for blogging.  I really like this card and I think the reason is, because it has to inside greetings.  As you know I enjoy embellishing the inside of my cards as well as the out, I think it is a great treat for the receiver to open up a card that has a great inside greeting.

Since this morning I am in need of more time...and no not because we lost an hour...LOL  But because my husband has told me he will do a few honey do jobs and I need to be able to give him my attention and help.  I will be back with the recipe for this card later on this afternoon.

All Occasions/Bliss

Good Morning my crafting friends,

I made it back again today with another card.  So gald to be back in the crafting room and delighting myself in creation.  I am hoping to get back in here today with some more crafting, I need to make a run to the store but then hoping to spend the day here.  It will be tuff to spend the day in the basement since we are expecting nice temps and some sunshine but I will try to take a peek outside from time to time.

On to my card:  You will probably think I am nuts for saying this, but this card was dug out of the trash 2 times.  I just couldn't get the idea I had to come life in this card, so I pitched it, which I am sorry to admit I do from time to time.  But I finally decided the second time I dug it out to go in a totally new direction...so I got this, and I was so surprised it turned out pretty well, if I do say so myslef.

Another reason for this card to hit the trash bin was because I wanted the little bird to be on the front, and everything I did it still didn't suit my taste, so he is on the inside now, and it suits him fine....as well as myself....lol

I have another card to share this morning.
I made this Anniversary card for some friends of mine who are celebrating their 29th wedding anniversary, I believe Sunday.  So Happy Anniversary Jack & Nancy!!!

When making this card I told myself, NO FLOWERS!!!  and the focal point of this card is the HUGE flower on the front, for some reason it just called out for a flower.  I just need to understand that I will never stop using flowers on my cards, but I will keep trying to NOT add a flower.....we all have our signature embellishments, some use flowers, ribbon, pearls, and of coures I use all those too. :) I have been trying to do other things to my cards.  I do like sewing on my cards I will have to do that more often too.  I will keep looking for better ideas so not to bore you all. I would also like to add more layers, so I am hoping to be a little more creative soon.

The DSP corners were cut with a corner punch I bought at Michaels years ago not sure where it is from

The "best wishes" is from Stampin Up and the inside greeting is a stamp I bought from Hobby Lobby.

Happy Easter Basket

Hello, Hello, Hello
I am excited that I have finally found some creative juices.  I have been in the scrapbook room all day with my cousin Pam making cards and I think today we both had a little creative bug helping us come up with cards.

I really hate that I haven't been able to post in a while, but after my little sick spell I just didn't have anything to work with, my brain was just not into making cards, or anything for that matter.  But I did go to my favorite blogs to get inspiration, so I am happy that I could at least do that.

Pam and I finally agreed that there is just so many ways you can make a card.  You just may keep using the same design time after time, but I think as long as you use new paper, and embellishments that you love, a card will never look the same twice..........LOL

Todays post is NOT a card, but a basket I made.
I actually weaved this basket like you would a basket.  Cutting strips to weave, I will have to say it is much easier then making a real basket.  I use to make baskets years ago, and I had so many that I had no place to keep them, lucky for my friends and family that they got my leftovers.

I used Gina K paper for this basket base.  Gina K paper is very sturdy paper and great for a project like this, however any cardstock would be ok.  It was just a fun idea and I just had to put it to the test to see if I would like it and I do.

Welcome Baby

Hello everyone.
I will have to admit that I have missed posting and I have been trying to motivate myself to get busy and make a few cards, but for some reason I just can't seem to muster up creatitve juices. 
I can not take full credit for this card.  The inspiration came from a card I seen on the internet.  My cousin Pam made the quilted topnote for me.  We were making cards on Wednesday and she made several of the quilted topnotes and she shared a couple with me.  I thought it would be perfect as a baby card, with the cute little quilt.  I embossed both pieces, the base and the quilt.  Added a flower, button  and ribbon and a sentiment. It was a really fun card too make.
